The European Journalism Seminar
(EJS) is a specialized information and education programme
run by the European Centre Natolin for sectors of the Polish
media concerned with European issues.
The current Programme is a continuation of the two-year
co-operation with local and regional journalists which started
in 2002. The European Journalism Seminar's main goal
is to promote European issues in editorial offices. It consists
of two activities, the first being thematic workshops and conferences
held at the European Centre Natolin, Warsaw. The second, is
a website which is used regularly by the participants.
The conferences are devoted to select European topics relating
to specific regions or specializations (such as regional policy
or the development of infrastructure) or to current problems
concerning EU activity with reference to the Polish membership.
The premise of the EJS is conceived following consultations
with members of the journalist community. The conferences
and workshops are led by Polish and EU journalists specializing
in European issues, experts, politicians and prominent public
figures as well as local government representatives responsible
for the institutional co-operation between Poland and the EU.
The EJS website provides free access to both, current
and archival material on various topics connected with EU. Texts
are written specially for the EJS website on the basis of specialist
analysis and studies, including the influence of EU policy
on the Polish and regional key issues.
The EJS Programme provides the participants with necessary
knowledge about the EU and also with documents, expert opinions
and the information they need on European issues.
